While Splendor Duel shares the same "engine-building" DNA as its predecessor, it introduces several game-changing mechanics that turn every move into a tactical choice:

  • The Shared Board: Instead of simply taking chips from a pile, players now draft gem tokens from a shared 5x5 grid. You can take up to three adjacent tokens in a line, creating a "puzzle" where your choices directly affect what your opponent can reach.

  • Privilege Scrolls: When your opponent takes specific token combinations, you gain "Privilege" scrolls. These allow you to take extra tokens from the board on your turn, creating a dynamic tug-of-war for resources.

  • Royal Favors: Collect enough prestige or specific cards to gain the favor of Nobles, who grant immediate bonuses and special abilities that can shift the tide of the game.

  • Three Paths to Victory: In Splendor Duel, there isn't just one way to win. You can claim victory by being the first to:

    1. Reach 20 total Prestige Points.

    2. Collect 10 Prestige Points on cards of the same color.

    3. Earn 10 Crown symbols found on certain Jewel cards.
